Scor-Pal + Pink Paislee = Awesome

This week the Pink Paislee gals are swapping and hopping with Scor-Pal to bring you projects that show off creative scoring.  Today I am showing off these four Portfolio and Artisan cards that go beyond standard card folds.  I used the Scor-Pal score board, 1/4” tape, and a tape sheet.

A Spooky Month

In case you missed it last week on the Fancy Pants blog, here’s a fun little Halloween project for you.  Did you know Fancy Pants has free downloadable goodies every Friday?  And each month one of those is a calendar.  I took the October calendar and turned it into both a functional and decorative piece for my desk.  Yes, I still like a good old fashioned written schedule!

See the full instructions on how I made this here.

Halloween Harvest

October is my favorite month… the crisp leaves, Halloween fun, and the traditions (and eating) that comes along with harvest time!

Paper Issues is kicking off the new Halloween Harvest theme till October 20th and YOU could win your choice of kit from Gossamer Blue!

PI kit sponsor
Like Gossamer Blue on Facebook and start following their blog, too, and you could win one of their fabulously coordinated kits.

And if you need to shop before you can create (don’t we all!?) head on over to the Paper Issues store with the coupon code “SCRAPGOO” and save yourself 20% on everything.  Yeah, harvest that!!

In honor of the Halloween Harvest theme I created these haunted butterfly houses:

butterfly-houses
These are made from small wood birdhouses, wood candlestick holders, and the Fancy Pants Oct. 31 digital collection.  I pulled off a hybrid project by printing the papers and embellishments and fussy cutting them.

World Card Making Day

Ohhh, the interwebs is abuzz with World Card Making Day!  It seems like everyone is busting out the paper scraps and sentiment stamps to celebrate and I surely can’t be left behind!

Fancy Pants has teamed up with a favorite of mine… Operation Write Home.  OWH sends cards overseas to our men and women in uniform for them to send home to their loved ones.  I highly recommend checking out exactly what they do and contributing! Head on over to the Fancy Pants blog to see some inspiring cards, a blog hop, and giveaways!

I created this baby card using the Hopscotch collection and an Artist Edition alphabet card:

Here are a couple of super simple toddler birthday cards I whipped up last month.  We had a three year old girl’s birthday to attend:

Circus-Tent-Card

And a four year old boy’s fire truck party too:

Fire-Truck-Card

Both of these were cut with the Silhouette.  The circus tent card uses Fancy Pants’ Summer Soul collection and the fire truck card is entirely cardstock… which I never do!

Finally, if you need a challenge to get your mojo flowing head on over to Pink Paislee where you can enter to win the entire City Sidewalks collection!

All you have to do is create a card around any of our 5 challenges:

Fall in Woodland Park

I am so overdue in posting this (and a million other things…) because my family has been on vacation.  Last week I had a bit of inspiration from October Afternoon's Woodland Park up at Right at Home Scrapbooking  I love this line!  I feel like there is a real absence of deep blue in the patterned paper world and Woodland Park totally delivers with rich blues and teals.  And they hit a home run with this season's hot peacock feather motif!

Hello-Handsome
I want at least a dozen sheets of the scalloped taupe background paper I used here.  It is a super neutral.  I really wanted my large cluster to stand out so the more quiet background made sense.

Hello-Handsome-detail1
My cluster starts with a bed of stickers (oval and pennant) and some additional pennants cut from paper.  I topped those with two accordion circles, some buttons, the flower stickers, and the peacock feathers tucked into the top.  I popped up the wings of a couple of butterflies too.

Hello-Handsome-detail2
October Afternoon always makes really bold and intricate patterned paper so I kept my additions pretty simple.  I zig-zag stitched a bit on my paper strips and around the edge, stuck to an unfussy title area, and added a few coordinating adhesive pearls.

Thanks for visiting!

Baby Love

This week is Photo Focus Week on the Pink Paislee blog and we’re going to be showing you projects that feature three or more photos.  A lot of scrapbookers struggle with getting multiple pictures on a page, myself included, so this week should be inspiring and motivating for those of us who need an extra push to get beyond those single-photo layouts.

This is actually the very first page I have scrapped of my new baby girl.  That is intimidating! I knew I wanted to show off more than one of the photos from this little home photo shoot, and I wanted the focus to be on her sweet face more than lots of layers or embellishments.

Baby-Love
It can be tricky to design a multi-photo page without it looking cluttered.  I used the soft, subtle patterns of London Market here because they coordinated with my photos perfectly without being distracting… the paper and embellishments let the photos be where your eye is drawn.

Baby-Love-detail1
I border cut five layers of scalloped grey patterned paper as a base for the twine-strung banner that anchors my photo grouping.  I outlined each photo in fine black pen to frame them and unite the group.  The photos themselves are small ,but as a collection (much like a gallery wall) they have a bigger impact.

Baby-Love-detail3
The new Artisan Elements were excellent accents for this page. Their white background allowed me to add black details to coordinate with the rest of my page.  I used a Sharpie to outline where I wanted them to pop.

Baby-Love-detail2
Simple and subtle details like this cluster compliment rather than distract from the photos.  I absolutely love the combination of London Market and the Artisan Elements.  So sweet!
